Days out in Yorkshire – Sunday Trip

20 Feb

After experiencing a variety of different days out in Yorkshire, we feel that we’ve got the perfect line-up of visits. Where exactly are we talking about? Hornsea! It’s true, Hornsea is often overlooked when people are thinking about places to visit for days out in Yorkshire. However you might be surprised to know that the region is rich with history and interesting places to visit, for the entire family.

We’d start off our day with a visit to Honeysuckle Farm – a working farm and petting zoo located just outside Hornsea. Adults can sample the lovely home-made ice cream whilst the children pet the animals and learn about life on a farm. If it rains, Honeysuckle Farm won’t wreck your day out in Yorkshire – they have a wonderful indoor play area for the children to enjoy.

You cant plan a day out in Yorkshire without enjoying something local fish and chips. That’s why we recommend visiting the Hornsea Seafront at lunch. Here you can take in the fresh seaside air, whilst tucking in to some local food. Of course a visit to the Hornsea Seafront is completely free!

Obviously you don’t want to be carrying bags around all day. That’s why we’d finish off our day out in Yorkshire with a visit to Hornsea Freeport. Here you’ll be able to grab a ton of fantastic bargains from the latest designer clothes and big named brands. There’s stores to satisfy all the family, from the kids, to mum and dad.

We hope you’re excited by the sound of our perfect Sunday day trip out. If you’ve got your own ideas and suggestions for days out in Yorkshire, be sure to let us know in the comments below!

Days out in Yorkshire – Visit to Hornsea Freeport

13 Feb

Hornsea has always been an area I wanted to visit. Many friends had recommended a day trip there with the family, but it wasn’t until last weekend that I actually took their advice. Being in the region, we were looking at various ideas for days out in yorkshire, when we came across a trip to Hornsea Freeport. Needing various bits and bobs for upcoming family birthdays, it seemed like an ideal place to visit!

Thankfully it did not disappoint! As far as shopping days out in Yorkshire, you can’t get much better! Hornsea Freeport offers a huge range of different stores, from Thorntons, to Hallmark, Craghoppers, Clarks, and Coloroll. Our girls were kept happy too with shops like Accessories and Pilot.

Sadly whilst we were there we missed any events. However it’s worth noting that there’s an upcoming craft fair on the 18th-26th February, with handmade crafts and gifts being sold along with jewellery and wooden items. If you’re looking at days out in Yorkshire around that time, and have an interest in that kind of thing then be sure to check it out! What’s great about Hornsea Freeport is that they have events all year round, regularly – something which I don’t believe many shopping outlets do.

We all had a great time on our visit to Hornsea Freeport. The whole family left in a great mood from a pleasant day of shopping. As far as days out in Yorkshire go, we couldn’t recommend a visit to Hornsea Freeport enough! Be sure to check out their site if you’re interested – http://www.hornseafreeport.com/

It’s easy to make a day out of it at Hornsea, with a number of attractions including the Hornsea Museum, Honeysuckle Farm and Hornsea Seafront.

Out of all the places to spend our days out in Yorkshire, what makes Hornsea our favorite? With their award-winning Blue Flag beach, the resort boasts everything that’s great about the traditional British seaside, making it the perfect location for days out in Yorkshire. With both low priced enjoyable day trips out, to hours of retail therapy, Hornsea suits everyone in the family. There’s a lot for you to do if you consider a day out in Yorkshire at Hornsea. The Hornsea Museum is based in an 18th Century Farmhouse, and depicts the changing patterns of village life over the past few centuries. It’s a fantastic experience.

The Honeysuckle Farm is ideal for families. From March to September every year, the farm opens up to the public. The kids are free to pet the animals, learn about life on the farm and even sample the yummy home-made ice cream or take a scenic horse cart ride around the farm. Even if it’s raining, Honeysuckle Farm still has a large indoor play area for the children.

What’s more traditional for a day out in Yorkshire than the Hornsea Seafront beach resort? The whole family can enjoy a relaxing day by the sea – be it the children building sandcastles, or Mum and Dad having a stroll along the seafront. Just make sure you sample the tasty fish and chips on offer!
